…is a time for you and your therapist to discuss issues that are most relevant to you. Often times, people find comfort in sharing their experience with someone else who is a neutral party. The goal of therapy is to help you feel better, whatever that means for you. Please find some common questions answered below:
what does therapy look like?
Many therapists work from many different frameworks. I tend to work from a more collaborative approach. I do not sit quietly for 50-minutes every week but I also do not tell you what to do. We will work together to find solutions but also to take the time to learn about you. What makes you angry, upset, happy, neutral? I try to make time to look at the common thread to help identify how it has impacted your life.
How often do we meet?
Weekly sessions tend to be the most effective, although there will inevitably be weeks off due to holidays and vacations. If you feel that weekly sessions would not work then we can discuss a frequency that makes sense.
do you meet virtually?
Yes. we have had much practice conducting teletherapy since covid and patients often find it as effective as in person sessions.
Do I need to live in Texas to work with you?
No! Due to a mutual agreement between states, I am legally allowed to treat patients in 42 states called PsyPact. Please click here to see if your state participates.
everything i say is confidential, right?
I am legally bound to maintain confidentiality. If someone calls me wanting to ask questions about you, I cannot say that we even know each other (without a signed release). What happens here stays here. There are very specific legal limits to my confidentiality which we will go over when we meet.
